Is this the best happy hour deal in NYC?
Always on the prowl for the best pizza deals in the city, this one leads the pack
Two years ago while making plans to meetup with some friends in Manhattan I stumbled upon what might just be the best happy hour deal in all of New York City. But first, let’s take a moment to examine the pizza.
The pizza is ultra-thin, crispy, and features cheese nearly to the edge with a slight ring of sauce and a very small edge of crust. The pie is baked with ribbons of basil mixed in with the cheese. Take a moment to admire this beauty.
This pizza pictured above is from Vezzo located on the corner of East 31st St. and Lexington Ave. Vezzo is part of a group of restaurants in NYC known as “NYC Thin Crust Pizza.” The family of pizzerias are: Gruppo, Posto, Vezzo, Spunto, Tappo, Brado, and Trovo. The restaurants are located all over the city including the East Village, Gramercy, Murray Hill, West Village, Chelsea, Brooklyn Heights, and Midtown East.
Ok fine. Now to the important part. A little-known fact about this restaurant group is their, in my opinion, phenomenal daily happy hour deal. FREE LARGE PLAIN PIZZA with the purchase of ANY pitcher of beer or bottle of wine 3:30 to 6:30pm daily. I believe some of the locations even offer this on Mondays from 3:30pm until close. There is an additional charge for toppings. With a deal like this, keep life simple and order a pitcher of beer to share with some friends and enjoy an awesome plain pizza.
