San Diego's Tribute Pizza covers all the bases
The North Park institution dishes out pies familiar to us here at Bob's Pizza Tour
Buy local, dream global with this awesome pizzeria in San Diego’s buzzy North Park neighborhood. Mike Kurtz of hot honey fame called this place the perfect ‘tastemaker’, a culinary leader and trendsetter. We know a few of these places too, especially across Baltimore, and this place fit the bill.
An old post office with incredible windows, this place was filled to the gills on your typical spring Wednesday evening. Instead of letters and packages they dish out pizzas, from their huge ovens in the middle of the restaurant.
The first pie didn’t pack any punches but was incredibly refreshing — perfect for a hot day or a wintery day thanks to the Bianco diNapoli tomatoes.
What really tickled me was the grandma/pan version of the “you knew this was coming”. While I knew it was coming, it surprised and delighted, and the everything bagel crust proved to be the cherry on bottom.
Flavor and laid-back San Diego culture abound at this institution, perfect for locals and visitors. Next time, I need to try the L’Industrie tribute slice as well as the Best Pizza - and see how they stack up!
Mix it up next time you’re in San Diego, and head a bit inland to North Park. You won’t regret it!
