While this is first and foremost a pizza newsletter, we do have to stay abreast of all happenings in the broader food world. That’s why we have to give a quick shoutout to Van Leeuwen Ice Cream, a NYC staple, for creating pizza ice cream. Yes, you read that correctly.
I have yet to try it, but it’s available for purchase soon! 2022 is certainly an interesting time to be alive.
Have you tried this ice cream? Would you? Let us know in the comments!
We got touring again this past weekend—an intimate affair in the West Village—where we swung by spots both old and new. Here’s a quick breakdown:
Village Square—our friends hooked it up with a few delicious slices. The vegan eggplant is a personal favorite but the white pie did not disappoint.
Moustache—a Middle Eastern restaurant underneath the Friends building that specializes in “pitzas” that have thin crust. We got the lamb and parsley variety and ditched the cheese (where my lactose intolerant friends at??)
Spunto Thin Crust—A neighborhood staple, Spunto (and its sister, ends in “O” pizzerias) hit us with a lovely mushroom and pep pie.
One last photo of a couple happy tourists:
That could be you sitting there and cheers-ing pizza. Sign up for a tour next time you’re in the city and as always follow us @bobspizzatour. That’s it for this edition of The Sauce! Thanks for reading!
Before we go, we do have just two small asks of you, dear reader:
Forward this to friends, family, coworkers, enemies. Anyone, in short, should subscribe to The Sauce.
Comment below 👇 with what you’d like to see more of. Is it recipes? Is it more pizza recs? More pizza ice cream! Help us make The Sauce the pizza newsletter 😁
In crust we trust,
Bob + Jack
